What's odd about this issue is that the document itself usually prints out fine without any visible issue, but then it prints an additional page with nothing but that error message on it.

Solutions I've Tried 1. Reinstalling printer drivers on the user machine 2. Reinstalling printer driver on the print server 3. Made sure Server is patched and up to date Per suggestion in a microsoft KB article that described a similar error. Printed to a different printer, same document Let me know if you need additional information. Start Free Trial. View Solution Only. Commented: The error is the printer's way of telling you something is wrong with the data it receives. In this case it is told to restore a graphics state but can't do so, because the command is sent at the wrong time - possibly some item is left on the printer's memory stack.

As it prints the error page after the document, that implies there is something wrong in the way the printer is told to "reset" at the end of the document.

Do the documents that cause the error all have a common graphic? In that case, try removing it and replacing it with a fresh copy. Before you do that, re-save the graphic with the application that created it. If you don't know which item causes the error, try selectively deleting the items on the page until you find the one responsible. What application is used to create the document that you are trying to Distill? Which version of distiller? Try telling Distiller to generate a different PostScript version.

Author Commented: Sorry for the late response. Been busy around here. It was indeed a corrupted graphic. A logo that we been using for a long time so we didn't think to look at that as a possible source of the issue.

Taking that out resolved the issue and we have an updated one we are going to use instead that seems to work well with no issues. Get your personalized solution. Ask The Experts. PostScript error: invalidrestore

You can receive a PostScript error when sending a file to a PostScript interpreter for example, a printer, Acrobat Distiller. An error can also occur if the file's PostScript code exceeds one or more of the limits in the PostScript page description language. If your PostScript interpreter appears to process data but then stops, a PostScript error could have occurred. A PostScript error message includes a PostScript error type, which defines the type of error it is. It also includes an offending command, which usually indicates the specific part of the PostScript code that the interpreter couldn't read. The offending command usually indicates the command that caused the problem.
