If this category had existed in Spain when it was published, it is likely that it would have earned the critical recognition it deserves. The novel's exciting plot, captivating prose, wise cultural commentary, factual content, sense of humor, and message of female empowerment are strong enough to engage readers of all ages. In addition to its literary value, this novel has a key place in the author's own biography, serving as a bridge back to life and literature after her daughter's untimely death. Her legacy has been the subject of conferences, books, journals, and articles.

Everything we see everyday in our lives could be different in a magical world. This well known Spanish author used to live in New York and was inspired by the city.
You will dream while reading it! Mar 15, Paola Mendoza rated it did not like it. This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers. To view it, click here. I didn't really like this book.
I'm gonna get straight to the point. It was completely unrealistic and unbelievable. I barely got through the first chapters they were so slow and, to my opinion, boring and pointless. It got a little better when we were introduced to Miss Lunatic and the only fun thing about this book I think was his kind of interrogatory with the detective.
Sara's character was a complete disaster, non of her choices made sense to me and she acted almost crazy-like. J I didn't really like this book. Where is your grandma?
How come no one is worrying about you? I get that your parents are out of town, but you were supposed to be taken care of by Ms Taylor I think, not sure and where is she? Seriously, this girl is in Manhattan alone and no one seems to care unbelievable.
I remember something about her mentioning that her mother had told her not to talk to strangers. What is wrong with you? She is even always complaining about the fact that her mother never leaves her hand when they go her grandma's house which is across the city.
Sep 02, Raddy rated it did not like it. Jul 11, Valentina rated it liked it. Interesting take on the classic story of little red riding hood, set in modern day Manhattan, and the concept of freedom. Sep 14, Alicelovesbooks rated it did not like it. Ju I didn't really like this book. I'm just gonna stop here because this is just the tip of the iceberg and I'm getting mad just remembering things just to write them. Jan 06, Daisy Honeywell rated it it was ok.
This is a particular book. In a way it's weird, in another is sweet, in another wants to be smart but it is not The protagonist is Sara, a kid that lives in Brooklyn but wishes to live in Manhattan. She is very intelligent, sensitive and doesn't care about many silly things. She is cute and I appreciate it.
Her mother is dumb and she cares about silly things while her grandmother is very intelligent and happened to be a diva. The book is weird to describes but as a tribute to Little Red Riding This is a particular book. The book is weird to describes but as a tribute to Little Red Riding Hood we can find the kid, the grandmother and even the wolf that, in this book, is a cooker.
The plot is very simple and I did not like that was too "fantasy". During same pages there is the Statue of Liberty of New York that's an old figure that talks ad talks I appreciate that old lady that thinks that money is rubbish or that people are stupid but The Statue of Liberty?!
It's a book well written but that i will not re - read. Aug 06, David rated it liked it Recommends it for: year old girls and their parents. Shelves: read-in This book marks a milestone for me, as it is the first book entirely in Spanish that I've read. It's a sort of young-adult fairy tale the title means "Little Red Riding Hood in Manhattan" , which though a little cloying in places, was a satisfying story, and fun to read.
The author whom the story most reminded me of was Paul Gallico, in particular his story "A Dress from Dior". Since I enjoy Paul Gallico quite a bit, this is not faint praise. I read this book before moving to NYC. It was a perfect fit. Nice piece of writting, but I expected something more Something more magical. Not just another well-written story with lame ending ;.
May 06, Lorena Arteaga rated it it was ok. I don't really liked the book but it has a lot of references about New York, I enjoyed pretty much reading about my favourite city, so: the place is great and the story is trash.
Aug 30, V rated it really liked it. Pretty story maybe strange but beautiful on the inside. It was okay. Kind of a silly theme but I liked a lot of the characters' personalities.
