Ships from United States. Most customers receive within days. Sold and Shipped by Made PC a-seller. Choking Hazard: Small parts. Not for children under 3 years. Pros: Works great while it lasts. Saved my equipment several times. Cons: Designed obsolescence. No battery replacement. Plan on replacing the whole unit in 3 yrs tops.

Each one expended it's battery two batts in the most recent episode in a few years. That's fine and expected. But after purchasing replacement batteries each of them would not come back to life. They design them to get fried once the batts croak so you have to buy another. I'm done with APC. Looking for a better option now. Since the flaw doesn't come for years and they have so many models, you'd never know from the reviews.

But charging circuits are simple so three strikes and I have to assume it's on purpose. The XS didn't die under any electrical turmoil, it just started complaining about the batteries, so that's the final straw. Pros: This is a good UPS unit that's a step above the watt entry-level ones that are typically sold for home use, and this is helpful if you have a PC with a multi-core processor or other power-sucking features.

APC's PowerChute software is helpful for setting features and observing battery health. This is a MAJOR, if not disqualifying drawback for anyone hoping to use this unit at home where middle-of-the-night power outages may occur, and where the resulting beeping will awaken anyone within earshot.

Yes, it's probably possible to take the thing apart and snip the wires to the beeper, but this really shouldn't be needed on a sophisticated UPS. Pros: Seems to do what it's supposed to do. When the power is out or hiccups it instantly switches on until the power grid is back up.

Management app is decent too. You can run tests and see when the last time power was off and for how long. Has options for behavior during outage too. I think APC has a calculator on their site. Either use that or use Newegg's "power supply calculator" put that term in the search box to help guestimate the wattage of your system.

Overall Review: Nothing really. Just make sure you get one that will suit your needs now and in the future.

You want to buy bigger than you think you need now or buy one that has the ability to add a battery expansion pack to extend runtime later on. Gives about minutes of run time - just enough to gracefully shutdown everything. Overall Review: Could not figure out if this unit can actually wake up equipment once power is restored - maybe not, maybe it is just me. Ubuntu Karmic server works nicely with this unit via apcupsd over USB cable.

Pros: I live in one of the most lightning prone areas of the US with frequent dropouts of line power; more often that not with a duration of just enough to make the lights flicker but long enough to recycle the computer without UPS or to make the battery switchover alarm chirp with UPS. I tried to use the computer without the UPS but it was impossible. Overall Review: Garden tractor batteries work fine after the internal battery expires. This is a good unit for a single workstation.

About once a week, I find that it is switching from on battery to off battery constantly every half second or so. Powering down the unit and unplugging it from the wall overnight seems to clear the behavior. Pros: We have about 10 of this units at my work. We have experienced many power outage from one last less than 1 seconds to 30 minits. This UPS is heavy duty. Pros: It's a battery backup and it works. It's also very simple to use. Overall Review: It's a good little unit if all you need is something to keep a workstation or a small batch of electrincs active during power outages.

Personally, I use this to keep my cable-modem, router, and main LAN switch powered during outages and I tend to get about minutes of uptime with that fairly light load. If I ran this on my main workstation, I'd probably see about minutes, which would be plenty of time to shut down.

However, I wouldn't rely on the software to automatically power down an unattended system. Once that happens, automatic shutdown is impossible until the next restart. In other words, use this on things that need constant power while you're in front of them. View All Seller's Reviews.
