BIOGENESIS AND ABIOGENESIS PDF

Abiogenesis , or informally the origin of life , [3] [4] [5] [a] is the natural process by which life has arisen from non-living matter, such as simple organic compounds. There are several principles and hypotheses for how abiogenesis could have occurred. Researchers study abiogenesis through a combination of molecular biology , paleontology , astrobiology , oceanography , biophysics , geochemistry and biochemistry , and aim to determine how pre-life chemical reactions gave rise to life. Life functions through the specialized chemistry of carbon and water and builds largely upon four key families of chemicals: lipids fatty cell walls , carbohydrates sugars, cellulose , amino acids protein metabolism , and nucleic acids self-replicating DNA and RNA. Any successful theory of abiogenesis must explain the origins and interactions of these classes of molecules.

What are abiogenesis and biogenesis?

Abiogenesis , the idea that life arose from nonlife more than 3. Abiogenesis proposes that the first life-forms generated were very simple and through a gradual process became increasingly complex. Although many equate abiogenesis with the archaic theory of spontaneous generation , the two ideas are quite different. According to the latter, complex life e.

Biogenesis is the theory that life originates only from pre-existing life; while the theory of abiogenesis implies that life may also spring from inorganic matter as such. Some philosophers maintain that life existed prior to inorganic matter. Thus Fechner considers the stars and the universe as conscious organic beings of a higher order, which in the course of time differentiated themselves to organisms of an inferior kind.
