Close menu. Bawang tiwai Eleutherine americana L. Bawang tiwai is used by the ethnic of Dayak in Eas Kalimantan for spicy and medicine. Information about this chemical compound should be studied further and one of the study is to know the characteristic and activity of bawang tiwai as antimicrobial activity. The extract of bawang tiwai using methanol solvent has characteristic of brown concentrated solid gummy , non crystalin, non aromatic and the extract of bawang tiwai using the solvent of n-tiexene.

Objectives: This study would like to investigate the in vitro antioxidant activity through 2,2-diphenylpicrylhydrazyl assay and in vitro xanthine oxidase activity of the bulbs. This study performs in vivo assays to study the antihyperuricemic activity and antioxidant in the hyperuricemic rat through plasma malondialdehyde measurement.
Method: The study was conducted by testing the fresh bulbs of bawang tiwai Eleutherine palmifolia L. Allopurinol and Vitamin C were used as positive control for the antihyperuricemic assay and antioxidant assay, respectively. Other chemical substances were also used in this study.
Results: The results show that the levels of uric acid were measured using spectrophotometer with dichloro-hydroxybenzen sulfonate Biolabo a as reagent. The ethanol extract of bawang tiwai EBT E. Conclusion: All doses of EBT could inhibit lipid peroxidation in hyperuricemic condition caused by high purine diet in 14 days.

Ethanolic Extract Formulation of Bawang Tiwai (Eleutherine Americana) in Antiacne Cream
Tiwai onion Eleutherine americana Merr. This plant has been used for generations Kalimantan Dayak community as a medicinal plant. This article aims to review the content secondary metabolites, various uses, and pharmacological activities tiwai onion. Tiwai onion bulbs commonly used to treat various diseases, including cancer, diabetes, heart disease, inflammation, infection bacteria, fungi, amoeba , hypertension, cholesterol, gout, bronchitis, and other diseases. Based on the studies that have been done, this plant bulbs have various pharmacological activities, namely antioxidants, sunscreen activity, antiinflammation, antidiabetic, antiagregasi platelets, antibacterial, anticancer, antifungal, and antiamoeba, as well as having subacute toxicity in rat liver tissue.
